My name is Carson John-Carney, and I am Brighton’s K-12 Advisor. I am a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida and have lived on the reservation my whole life. I have a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University, and I am excited to serve my community.
My goal is to bridge the gap between our department and the community and serve as a familiar face. The youth are the keyholders to the future of our tribe and I aim to assist them in finding the doors to success. Education has always been very important to me, and I am honored to be able to share my experiences and knowledge.
Allowing our tribal members to explore different schools, trades and certifications opens them up to so much more than life on the reservation. We are blessed as a tribe with the opportunities we have, and I express that to all my students. I always encourage them to explore the world, attend college visits, take a trip away from home and see there is much more out there. I attended school and came back to work for my people, and they can do it too! If I inspire at least one kid, I will have done my duty to my people.
