Education Community Member Liaison, Brighton & Fort Pierce

My name is Dana Osceola; I am a member of The Seminole Tribe of Florida. I am excited to be joining the Brighton Education team as the new Education Community Member Liaison. I am here to offer support to the families/students of the Brighton Community and the surrounding areas.  I will also offer assistance with any questions or concerns pertaining to the Education Department and services that are available to tribal members.

I was previously employed with the Brighton Treasury Department for 23 years.  Therefore, I have already become familiar with many of you and look forward to working with all of you again, just from a little different perspective.  I wholeheartedly believe that my position will enable me to better serve the tribal members as an education advocate, while they are working towards pursuing and obtaining their GED, vocational/career, undergraduate and graduate degrees.  My goal for this position is to establish a working relationship with the surrounding schools in order to make sure our tribal member students are succeeding through high school and beyond.  It is important to me that tribal members understand the various opportunities that are available to them. 

Ultimately, my goal is to provide our tribal members with the exposure and access to educational information; thereby providing them with the proper tools and opportunities to then position themselves to return and become positive role models within our tribal communities for years to come.  Let’s work together on helping to pave the way for future generations to continue to enhance our Tribe.
