I'm delighted to be joining the Education Department of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, where I'll be overseeing the day-to-day operations of our four Tribal libraries. My love for reading and commitment to education has steered me towards a fulfilling career. Originally from Guyana, I moved to Miami with my family when I was two years old. I started my career as a high school volunteer with the Miami Dade Public Library System, where my passion for learning and working with children blossomed. Throughout my tenure exceeding 20 years, I progressed through diverse roles and ultimately managed several departments with a particular emphasis on literacy.
I graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Policy and Service at Florida International University. My future goals include earning a Master of Arts degree in Library and Information Science.
As a Tribal Librarian, I aspire to create dynamic educational spaces within the Tribal community, fostering a love of reading among patrons of all ages. I am particularly committed to developing innovative programs and initiatives that celebrate Tribal culture and history. By creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, I aim to inspire the next generation of Tribal leaders and empower them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. Come explore our Tribal Libraries on the Big Cypress, Brighton, Hollywood, and Immokalee Reservations.
Hobbies: Traveling with my children, reading, weekends at the beach and watching Miami Heat basketball games. Go Heat!!!
